THUD…the lead balloon dropped on the Arizona Cardinals. An offseason of massive expectations came crashing down in their 23-21 loss to the Patriots.
Where do we start with the disaster of losing the home opener to many of the New England backups on Sunday night?
No Tom Brady, no Rob Gronkowski, top defensive player Rob Ninkovich and neither starting offensive tackle played. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t throw an interception and carved up the Cardinals defense 24-33 for 264 yards and a TD. Bill Belichick and staff had their team ready to play. Shorthanded or not, the Patriots methodically jumped on Arizona early and hung on for the victory. The Patriot offense converted 10-16 3rd downs…think about that…without the future Hall of Fame QB and TE on the field. Unacceptable.
What do you do to solve Brandon Williams at corner, Andre Ellington as your kick returner, getting more of a push up front on the opposing quarterback.
This one should hurt. This one should make you angry and embarrassed. I am sure Brady and Gronk had a good laugh when the final kick didn’t go through the uprights…
