Peoria Centennial is going to be the center of the national high school football universe next week. Mater Dei , the top-ranked football team in the nation, will come to the Coyotes campus for a 7pm kickoff on Friday, September 6th.
Centennial is a 7-time state champion under head coach Richard Taylor. The Coyotes started their season with a narrow 34-27 home victory last Friday over Casteel.
The Monarchs opened last week with a dominating 42-14 victory over Corona Centennial. Mater Dei features quarterback Bryce Young(USC commit).

Arizona high school football programs had their ups and downs against out-of-state opponents last weekend.
Higley lost 55-16 on their home turf to Alemany(Mission Hills, CA.) while Williams Field fell 52-27 at home to Norco
Chandler went up to Las Vegas and beat Liberty(Henderson) 31-17. Head coach Rick Garretson will take the Wolves to Sacramento next month to play Capital Christian(Sept. 14th)
Desert Vista will play at Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks ) this Saturday. The Thunder took down Palm Springs 44-34 on Friday.
It will be an interesting couple of weeks coming up for Saguaro. The Sabercats play back to back games against out-of-state teams, starting this Saturday at Cathedral Catholic(San Diego) and then seven days later in Las Vegas against Faith Lutheran.
A good group of games to gauge the success and power of Arizona high school football over the next couple of weeks.
