The class of 2019 will add some new interest to the Red River Shootout for Arizona high school football fans. Pinnacle’s Spencer Rattler, the top quarterback in the country, is committed to Oklahoma. Chandler tight end Brayden Liebrock, who has been one of the hottest recruits in the country, pledged to Texas last month.
Now, one of the best athletes in the country is headed to Austin in Notre Dame Prep’s Jake Smith.

“Smith is know for his playmaking abilities on offense, but he is a player I think could also play on defense at safety,” Sports360AZ recruiting expert Jason Jewell said. “This versatility is what makes him one of the top prospects in Arizona. Look at the video game numbers he has put up on offense, Notre Dame Prep is creative on how he gets touches and when he does, watch out. He just might take it to the house.”
The Saints speedster sat down with Jordan Hamm in a Recruiting Roundup special to talk about what made Texas stand out, how he plans to improve his senior year and he gained by balancing football and lacrosse.
