King James courting Steve Nash?

Never underestimate the power of social media.

There may or may not be NBA basketball anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean the stars are staying out of the national spotlight.

Thursday LeBron James hinted he’d like to bring a point guard to South Beach.

That point guard happens to be current Sun Steve Nash.

James tweeted, “Maybe @SteveNash in a Heat uni! So we can help each other get our first ring.”

It can be tough to comprehend the context of tweets, but King James certainly isn’t shy about helping recruit players, as he proved last summer.

“I think it is messing with people, but it also makes sense from the championship standout,” Arizona Republic Suns insider Paul Coro explained to Brad Cesmat on “Big Guy on Sports.” “I don’t know offensively if that Heat system fits him very well, but I’m sure (Erik) Spoelstra would try to coordinate it with his skills.”

Nash, who second stint in Phoenix started in 2004, has been in the middle of trade discussion with the Suns roster in flux and the 7-time All-Star’s career winding down. Many consider the Suns no better than a fringe playoff team, but that doesn’t seem to bother the future Hall-of-Famer.

“Whenever something like this (trade rumors) comes up, you never hear it from Nash,” Coro told Cesmat. “Everytime he says he wants to stay in Phoenix and see it through.”

The reality is we won’t see Nash, King James, or any NBA superstar anytime soon until the lockout ends.

The biggest question is when.
