Whisenhunt “optimistic” Kolb will be ready Sunday vs. Dallas

Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kevin Kolb did not play in Sunday’s 23-20 win against the St. Louis Rams. Kolb has been battling a turf toe injury that has kept him out of four consecutive games.

Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt met with the media Monday morning and said he is “certainly optimistic about him being able to go this week. Its really going to depend on Wednesday.”

Because of the unpredictable nature of the injury, Whisenhunt added that “it is not something you can put a time period on and say it should be healed or it should be good in this timeframe.”

Kolb did see activity in practice last week throwing the ball and working on that plant foot that is affected by the toe injury.

“He made enough progress last week that can meek you think he could do it this week” Whisenhunt added Monday.

John Skelton, who has started in place of Kolb the last four weeks, moved to 3-1 as a starter this season but has struggled the last two weeks vs. the Rams and the 49ers.  In those two games he is 18 for 42 for 213 yards and five interceptions.

Cardinals take on the 7-4 Dallas Cowboys from University of Phoenix Stadium at 2:15pm.
