Suns making moves as training camp approaches

In the shadow of all the chaos involving the three team deal which included Chris Paul becoming a Los Angeles Laker being vetoed, the Phoenix Suns made additions and subtractions to their roster hours before the start of training camp.

On Thursday, the Suns added two guards to their roster getting Sebastian Telfair and Shannon Brown to sign one-year deals.

Friday morning, the Suns answered one of their biggest questions regarding the future of Grant Hill.  According to the Arizona Republic’s Suns Beat Writer Paul Coro, Phoenix signed the veteran leader to a one-year deal worth $6.5 million.

Now to the subtractions. Coro has also reported that the Suns have traded forward Mickael Pietrus and cash to the Toronto Raptors for a conditional second round pick.

In addition, Vince Carter is expected to be waived from the team by the end of the day. In doing the so, the Suns will owe Carter his guaranteed $4 million.

In the end, since last season the Suns have made moves that have dumped cap space and have filled their roster with one year deals in what looks to be a major effort to be big players in the 2012 off-season.

But there is a shotened 2011 season to play before any of that can take place.

The Suns will kick-off the 2011 season training camp from Grand Canyon University on Saturday.
