Hakim Warrick becoming reliable for Suns

Just 18 games into the regular season for the Phoenix Suns and Alvin Gentry has gone with a variety of different line-up’s and rotations. One of the biggest reason’s behind his struggle to put out a steady rotation is the lack of consistency from most of the key parts of the team.

Over the last three games, Hakim Warrick has been one of the most reliable resources for the Suns off the bench. Averaging a little over 11 points and close to five rebounds and getting to the foul line for a total of 17 free throw attempts.

“Whatever I can do to be out there, whatever position I can play, whatever they need me to,” said Warrick after the Suns 86-84 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. “I’m just trying to be ready whenever my number is called.”

It is a long season and players will have their up’s and down’s, but when the team has needed a bright spot, Warrick stepped up with energy and scoring. Gentry has acknowledged that and had Warrick, in instead of Frye, out on the court with the starters during crunch time in the fourth quarter against the Grizzlies.

“He’s done a good job for us. He is the one guy I think can create situations for us where he can get to the foul line,” explained Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry. “I thought he played hard and played well.”

Notes from the Suns 86-84 win over the Grizzlies:

-The Suns held the Grizzlies to 32 points in the first half. That is the lowest the Suns have held a team in the first half all season

-Jared Dudley had a season high 20 points on the night. Two of those incuded the go ahead free throws to win it with three seconds left.

-Shannon Brown and Robin Lopez did not see the floor at all per Coaches decision.

Suns back in action Monday verse the Dallas Mavericks, whom they have already lost to twice on the season.
