UofA making national news in recruiting

Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcats are already turning some heads nationally with the pursuit and commitment from coveted future 2012 freshman. Rodriguez did say in his press conference back in November that despite not being out east, he would continue to actively recruit players from the other end of the country.

Late Monday night, Trey Griffey, son of future Hall of Fame baseball player Ken Griffey junior, committed to play for the Wildcats according to a various recruiting sites.

Griffey is a 6’2” wide receiver, who played at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. He also participated in the Under Armor All-American game earlier this month.

According to Scout.com, Griffey is a two-star athlete who has been clocked at running a 4.50 40 yard dash time.

Griffey had also visited Arizona State as well.

Side note: Griffey is not the only famous son to be in this 2012 class. Deion Sanders Jr. and Barry Sanders Jr. (committed to Stanford) are part of the class as well.

Rodriguez also has a very important visit on Tuesday from east coast coveted Quarterback Devin Fuller from Old Tappan High School in New Jersey. He plans to spend two days in Tucson.

According to Scout.com, Fuller is a four-star prospect and rated as the nation’s third-best dual-threat quarterback. Fuller on paper, looks to be that Pat White type Quarterback that Rodriguez would love to bring into his offensive system.

Arizona is the final visit for Fuller. He has already taken trip to UCLA, TCU, Nebraska and Rutgers.

Rodriguez has already received four commitments since has taken over as head coach of the Wildcats. The most heralded of the bunch thus far, Dakota Conwell, a four-star outside linebacker (according to Scout.com) out of Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh. Another east coast kid.

There are currently 15 total in the 2012 class.
