Dobson eliminates Pinnacle

slider generic_basketballThe Pinnacle Pioneers girls basketball team has had a lot of success over the last few years having been the state runner-up in each of the last three seasons.

This year their season ended a little earlier then they are accustomed to as the were eliminated by the seventh seeded Dobson Mustangs.

Dobson was led by a strong effort from junior Katherine Hamilton who finished with a team high 17 points.

The Mustangs separated themselves from the 10th seeded Pioneers in the third quarter thanks to outstanding pressure defense.

Pinnacle’s star, junior Sydney Weiss, tried to keep her team alive with her game high 21 points but her team as a whole was never able to get into a groove.

With the win Dobson moves onto face two seeded Highland whom they’ve played four times this season. Of those four they won one of them which happens to be the last time they met back on February 2.

Their fifth and final meeting of the season will be from Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe at 6 p.m.
