Peoria shakes off rough start; runs past Sunnyslope to move to quarterfinals

slider generic_basketballSaturday night’s playoff game against Sunnyslope couldn’t have started off more disastrous for Peoria.

They were down 6-0 off the bat, and didn’t score until nearly 3:30 left in the first quarter.

But the 4th seeded Panthers came around and got it together, and rolled past the 13th seeded Vikings 70-59.

With the win, Peoria improves to 24-3 on the season, and advances to the quarterfinals of the Division II Boys Championship.

They will face another tough foe on Wednesday in the 5 seeded Betty Fairfax Stampede. The game will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Stampede hosted No. 12 Poston Butte on Saturday as well, and beat them 76-59.

Whoever emerges from this game victorious will move on to the semi-finals at Grand Canyon University next Thursday night.

Sunnyslope ends their season 20-8.
