Seton Catholic survives Arcadia

slider-generic-basketball-courtThe winningest High School basketball coach in the state, Karen Self, added to her grand total as her third seeded Seton Catholic Sentinels advance in the Division II tournament with a 55-50 win over the 13th seed Arcadia Titans.

The Sentinels were led by their point guard Ann Marie Horton who did everything Friday night. She finished with a game high 22 points and was 11 of 14 from the free throw line.

Her partner in crime, Julia Barcello was strong offensively as well as she added 20.

Arcadia however was a lot to handle. Kylie Herd was dominant in the post and Gabby Evans led the team with 14 points.

Despite out scoring Seton Catholic 20-14 in the final period, Arcadia comes up just short of a big upset.

The Sentinels move onto the quarterfinals and will face the 6th seeded Flowing Wells from GCU Arena on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
