Manning saga takes another turn

Another day, another twist in “Manning Watch 2012.”

Just one day after kicking the tires on the Cardinals, there’s a new suitor for Peyton Manning.

Late Sunday Titans owner Bud Adams said, “He’s the one I want. Period. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”

So where does Tennessee fit in the big picture?

“The Titans do make some sense,” NFL Network insider Albert Breer told Brad Cesmat Monday on ‘Big Guy on Sports.’ “He’s got familiarity with that area. His wife is from Tennessee. [Offensive Coordinator] Chris Palmer coached Eli in New York and it’s in a division [AFC South] he’s awfully familiar with.”

Tennessee is attempting to set up a meeting between Manning and head coach Mike Munchak as he continues to weigh his playing option. Also Monday it was reported Dolphins first-year head coach Joe Philbin and select staff members want to talk to Manning about making Miami his year-round home. He resides there in the off-season.

Manning, who was swarmed by reporters in South Beach after returning from his farewell press conference in Indianapolis last week, is hoping to keep as low a profile as possible until he reaches a decision. He did not speak to reporters after extensive meetings with the Broncos and Cards the past three days.

Breer knows each opportunity offers quite a bit of upside.

“I think all the teams out there [make sense]. The teams that have been involved here in this chase… each of them have things going for them,” he said. “There’s a reason why he picked each of these teams.”

So who is the leader in the clubhouse?

“I said Miami last week, I thought Denver yesterday,” Breer explained to Cesmat. “I think this thing’s fairly wide open now. It’s anybody’s game.”
