Dobson uses huge late inning rally to blow past Corona

With the playoffs getting underway in a week, teams on the bubble are looking toward inking key victories before the end of the season.

Two teams that could, that should, be in post season play but need every win they can get are Corona del Sol and Dobson.

Those two teams met out at Dobson High School on Friday and and fought toe-to-toe until the late stages in the game.

Dobson got a great pitching performance from Mike Zoemisch who pitched five and two thirds innings only giving up one run and three hits.

Corona was not able to get that first run until there were two outs in the top of the sixth when Colby Hamilton laced a ball into left field making it 2-1.

But in the bottom half of the sixth, the Mustangs decided it was their game to win. Dobson erupted for nine runs in the inning which enforced the ten run rule. Justin Lee had the big hit that broke that game open by sending a ball opposite field down the right field line which drove in two runs.

Dobson gets only their fourth win in division play but there record is a solid 14-11. They have one game to go at Red Mountain on Tuesday.

Corona del Sol falls to 16-11 on the season with their final game at home vs. North on Tuesday as well.

Post season baseball will begin next weekend.
