Sun Devil offense finding their stride at spring practices

If you were out at the first day of spring practice outside the Dickey Dome in Tempe, you would have noticed that the offense appeared to have a long way to go to get where they ultimately would like to be by fall.

That is obviously to be expected because of the coaching changes that have taken place since the Devils hung up their pads in Las Vegas.

But over the last three or four practices, including the teams second scrimmage last Thursday night, the offense is really starting to find their stride and Head Coach Todd Graham’s system is starting to click.

“The offense has had a hand up the last couple times out,” said Graham after practice Tuesday. “The last couple time we’ve scrimmaged,  I felt that the offense had won.”

With all the accolades being thrown toward the offense, the defense has not taken a step back. It’s more to do with how the offense is beginning to buy into the system.

“What we do offensively is tough, the tempo is hard. It’s had for the defense,” Graham explained.

The Sun Devils coah added that the bright spot has been the offensive line and singled out the play of running back James Morrison and receiver Jamal Miles.

Graham stated, “we’re getting better, we need to continue to work at it, but I’m pleased.”

The Sun Devils have five practices left before the spring game on the 21st.
