It is business as usual for the Blue Ridge High football team. The Yellow Jackets are 6 – 0 this season.

“We haven’t won anything really,” said senior DE Jacob Badger. “We take it one week at a time.”

But a win this Friday against Saint Johns could be one they will remember forever.

“Coach Moro coming up on his 300th win. That is something special,” said senior LB Easton Wengert. “I am glad I got to be a part of it.”

Coach Paul Moro is just one win away from reaching the milestone of 300 wins. Only 3 other coaches in Arizona high school football history have accomplished this impressive mark.

“To win 300 games all at the same school here at Blue Ridge – that is very uncommon that a coach gets to stay at one school his whole career,” the coach said. “I have been blessed.”

In his 29 years as head coach of the Blue Ridge football team, he has won 18 regional championships 12 state championships. The numbers are remarkable.  But even more impressive – the number of young athletes coach Moro helped mold into men.

“He cares about his players a lot,” Badger said. “He cares how you are doing on and off the field. How you are doing as a person and where you are going in life.”

“For me, I never dreamed of winning 300 games,” said coach. “It has never been a priority or a goal.  For me, my focus is still on the players.”
