White Mountain Football Roundup

Big Scores were the story again in White Mountain Football Friday night, as Show Low, Blue Ridge and Mogollon remained undefeated.

Show Low topped Round Valley 28 – 6 in one of the closest margins of victory.  Dallin Crandall ripped off big runs again in the first quarter to hit pay dirt two times and Colby Maxwell evened out the scoring through the air.  Maxwell connected with Cody Tenney for one T.D. and later to Bret VanWinkle.  The Cougars will host Snowflake next.

Blue Ridge bested Snowflake 50-0 to go 4-0 on the season.  The Yellow Jackets host Round Valley in a non-conference matchup.

In Whiteriver it was Holbrook over Alchesay 54 -6 Friday night.  The Roadrunners were led by quarterback Dontae Hollins who scampered for three touchdowns and passed for another.  Lanny Newton Pender ran for three touchdowns too.  Alchesay will host Scottsdale Christian Academy as Holbrook travels to Fort Defiance to tackle Window Rock.

One of the “old 3A East” teams playing tough are the Winslow Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs fell to a much larger Flagstaff Eagle team 18-10 and go up to meet Mingus Mountain Friday.  St Johns Redskins clobbered Window Rock 56-6 Friday and will travel to Chinle for their next contest. In the Beeline Highway clash Fountain Hills toppled Payson 14-7 giving up two touchdowns in the 4th quarter to fall to the Eagles.  The Longhorns will travel to Miami to tackle the Vandals while Fountain Hills plays up a division against Saguaro.

In eight-man football it was Mogollon over Mayer 44-0. Smiley Beecroft galloped for 119 yards and three touchdowns including one through the air from Jimmy Adams.  The Mustangs hope to remain undefeated as they host defending state champion Joseph City in one of Arizona’s most storied rivalries.
