Cardinals acquire Carson Palmer from Raiders

The Cardinals got their man. The team announced the signing of quarterback Carson Palmer, formerly of the Bengals and Raiders, on Tuesday.

Arizona will swap it’s second sixth round pick in April’s NFL Draft (176 overall) for Oakland’s seventh round pick (219 overall).

According to reports, if Palmer plays at least 13 games this coming season, Arizona would send Oakland it’s seventh round pick in 2014 as well.

Palmer spent the last two years with the Raiders and played with the Bengals from 2004-10.

Last season, Palmer threw for 4,018 yards, 22 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions in 565 attempts.

Palmer, if you look inside the numbers, has seemed to maintain his poise and accuracy as his career has went on. His 2.5% INT-to-pass attempt ratio last season was the second lowest of his career.

The 22 touchdown passes marked the sixth season Palmer threw 20 or more TDs.

In his two years in Oakland, Palmer started 24 games, and completed almost 61-percent of his passes for 6,771 yards, 35 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

With John Skelton’s release on Monday, Palmer joins fellow quarterbacks Drew Stanton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer.

With the trade, the Cardinals now have one selection in each of the seven rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft.
