It was surprising news after the end of the 2012-13 Arizona Wildcats season that after one season with the team, Grant Jarrett decided to declare himself for the NBA Draft.
After participating in the NBA Draft Combine as well as working out with three NBA teams, Jarrett has no regrets.
“Yeah I don’t regret coming out,” Jarrett stated. “I am happy I did it and I’ll just keep going with it…You can’t predict the outcome so you have to just go with it and go with the flow and play your hardest.”
On the first day the Phoenix Suns held pre-draft workouts, Jarrett was present and worked out with new head coach Jeff Hornacek. He stood out as a member of the Wildcats with his ability as a big man to shoot from the outside. But there are many more parts of his game that he is looking to put on display.
“Not just being able to shoot,” Jarrett explained. “Showing them more of my game, posting up, passing, dribbling and stuff like that.”
“It’s tough but it’s good to go through,” Jarrett explained. “To get to your dream and goal, competing against good players. it’s fun though.”
Jarrett worked out with Chicago, San Antonio and Portland before heading to Phoenix. Though Jarrett only spent one year in Arizona it is still a familiar place for him compared to all of the other cities he plans to visit. However he still views the Phoenix area as enemy territory.
“Yeah but it’s ASU territory so I don’t like it too much,” Jarrett said.
Jarrett is set to work out with Indiana this week as well. He plans to have many more workouts leading up to the NBA Draft at the end of the month.
