On second thought, I AM pissed off!

Arizona Sports News online

On September 20, 2013, I posted a story entitled “Not In Our House?”  I tried to voice both sides of the perceived controversy regarding the Dodgers’ post-game celebration in our pool at Chase Field.  I cited examples of home field drama, including my view about hyper-sensitivity on the part of the home team to certain behaviors committed by the visiting team.

Well, the story may have changed and, whether or not the new information is accurate, so has my view.  According to LA Blogger Tony Jackson, more than one of the Dodger players who took the plunge at Chase Field left the pool after “relieving themselves” in the water.  Jackson wrote that at least one Dodger player “openly and loudly bragged after leaving the pool about having urinated in it.”

To be clear, I have no idea whether Tony Jackson’s claims are factual.  If they are true, these Dodger players don’t deserve to be part of this storied franchise or the legacy of Jackie Robinson.  For the purpose of this posting, however, I will assume that it is NOT true.  If that is the case, it is proof positive that the Dodgers’ actions were a designed and intended show of disrespect to the Diamondbacks.  Claiming to have committed this vile act is no different than the ticked off girlfriend who claims to have used your toothbrush to clean the toilet.  It doesn’t matter whether it is true; you won’t ever use that toothbrush again.

So nice job, Dodger Blue.  You changed the narrative for the last week of the 2013 season.   Rather than the baseball world talking about what you accomplished since early July and what may follow during the Fall Classic, you now have proven Willie Bloomquist to be right.  You are classless!
