Pinnacle’s Brian Lewerke commits to be a Spartan

The top two quarterbacks in the 2015 class in Arizona are now off the board. Just a few weeks ago, Chandler’s Bryce Perkins announced his commitment to Arizona State and now on Saturday, Pinnacle’s Brian Lewerke announced he is headed to the Big Ten and will suit up with Michigan State at the next level.

“I am definitely excited to be a Spartan,” Lewerke told “I really like their coaching staff up there and it’s definitely good to get the recruiting process done because it has been a little stressful to be honest. But I am glad it’s over with and I feel really confident with my decision.”

Coming off a Rose Bowl win over Stanford this past season, Michigan State’s program is flying as high as ever.

“They have winning under their belt,” Lewerke mentioned. “Hopefully I will be able to contribute to their team really well and hopefully we will be back to another Rose Bowl soon.”

Their momentum plus what they do to bring their best out of quarterbacks is what as drawn Lewerke to the Spartans. They run a pro style offense which not only suits his game now, but will also prepare him to reach his ultimate goal.”

“I like their pro-style offense because it translates well to the NFL and that’s my ultimate goal to play in the NFL,” he explained. “So I think that translation was a big thing for me.”

Lewerke mentioned that he was happy to get the recruiting process over with. He had 11 total offers which consisted of Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Florida, Louisville, Maryland, Ole Miss, Oregon State, UCLA, West Virginia along side Michigan State. Schools from all over the country and a lot of which do not come out to Arizona to recruit very often.

“Maybe Christian Kirk (top AZ 2015 prospect) helped with some of that stuff,” Lewerke joked. “Maybe camps probably but I think my ability. I am confident in my abilities and that was a big thing for me.”

Lewerke is beyond excited to call himself a Spartan. Which means he can use quotes from the movie ‘300,’ the ultimate pump up movie, to get himself and his teammates going before games.

“Definitely! When I was up there they talked about how they all watched he new ‘300’ movie all together before they played a big game,” Lewerke said. “But it will definitely be fun to be a man and be a Spartan.”
