We aren’t even a couple of days into NFL training camps and already owners are writing checks to players who are done for the coming season because of injuries suffered here in July. 49ers Kendall Hunter, Colts Vick Ballard and Carolina rookie Tyler Gaffney all went down over the weekend. Your fantasy draft at running back just became a little more difficult. NFL training camps and preseason games are nothing more than a money grab for the owners. The workforce is being put in harms way for the sake of more revenue. Owners talk of adding more regular season games, shorter work weeks for player recovery(Thursday Night Football), and by the middle of the season it’s a battle of attrition. All I know is the next six weeks hold your breath for your favorite team. Cardinal fans remember what happened to your first round pick Jonathen Cooper a year ago? With all of the offseason workouts, a three week camp and a two game preseason calendar is all that is needed…
Former Sun Shawn Marion is done in Dallas. With the Mavs signing Chandler Parsons this offseason, Marion will not be brought back.The Matrix won a title with the Mavericks, but was a four time all-star and established himself into a big time talent in Phoenix. As he hits the free agent market, it’s being debated in Dallas if he will go into the NBA Hall of Fame as a Maverick or a Sun.
He told the Dallas Morning News “there’s only two teams, either the Mavs or the Suns, just to go in would be enough. I don’t care who I go in as”. Marion always guarded the best player on the other team while in Phoenix. He did the same in Dallas. On face value, his numbers are staggering.
Marion told the Morning News he wants to keep playing, he’s not ready to retire.
The Suns could do worse than having Marion back on their roster…
Eric Bledsoe did himself no favors by speaking to a TV station in Birmingham, Alabama about his contract situation, “I can understand the Phoenix Suns are using restricted free agency against me”. He came across as petulant. Novel concept, try staying healthy for a season or two and then command max money. Silly…
