Mo’Ne TV ratings in Phoenix, Burfict shows college isn’t for everyone…

Arizona Sports News online

Vontaze Burfict needed to get away from college. 16 personal foul penalties in 26 games at Arizona State, undrafted by the NFL it appeared that the once overly hyped Sun Devil would never make an impact. Fast forward to this Sunday nights game at University of Phoenix Stadium and Burfict has shown that college isn’t for everyone.
Credit Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis for jumping on a plane to Tempe to meet with the Burfict. The Bengals looked past all of the baggage(and there was a ton to look at) and would sign him as a free agent.
Last season the 23 year old would lead the NFL in tackles. He was in the last year of his rookie contract which was at a base salary of $570K. The Bengals and Burfict agreed to a deal this week that will bring him nearly $10 million in the next year.
It pays to get away from college and have some discipline…

Mo’Ne Davis, the sensational female pitcher in the Little League World Series, put a dent on the Diamondbacks broadcast Wednesday night. My TV guys pulled up the cable ratings in Phoenix between 4:45pm and 5:35pm Wednesday night when Mo’Ne was on the mound on ESPN and the Diamondbacks game was on against Washington. The results aren’t surprising to me. The Little League game pulled a 0.4 rating in households in Maricopa County(37,000 households between the ages of 25-54), the Diamondbacks were at a 0.2(about 24,000 homes).

Jahii Carson went from Mesa High, to Arizona State, to the NB..uh, wait. He went to Australia to play for Wollongong Hawks in Australia? Wollongong finished last season with a record of 13-15. Australia does beat bumping around on a bus in Turkey to play hoops…

Curious to see the brand of football that NAIA Arizona Christian University puts out on the field at Shadow Mountain high school this Saturday night. Head coach Donnie Yantis comes to the Firestorm from Paradise Valley high. ACU opens their first season against Evangel College out of Springfield, Missouri. Gerrit Groenewold out of Estralla Foohills high school will be the quarterback in game one for the Firestorm. I will be doing the play by play of the game on COX7 at 7:15 Saturday night…
