Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (September 3) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

Do you like Philip Rivers’ matchup Monday night in Arizona against the Cardinals? “I don’t because the Cardinals have an aggressive defense. They’re going to be playing in front of their home crowd on Monday night. Rivers is a guy who’s a risky proposition this week. Honestly, I’m not in love with either quarterback [Carson Palmer] this week.”

What are your thoughts on this year’s rookie class, specifically Derek Carr? “I don’t buy into rookie quarterbacks, especially a guy like Derek Carr who’s got a big arm but, to me, there are so many good quarterbacks in the National Football League that you’re not looking at rookies. You’re not looking at [Johnny] Manziel until he becomes the guy. But you’re only looking at him because he can run the football which is huge from a quarterback perspective. Running back: not a great class. I still like Bishop Sankey to eventually be the guy in Tennessee. Right now it’s hard to really start him because Shonn Greene is the number one guy on that depth chart. The other running backs you’re looking at late-round fliers…I’m not a fan of rookie wide receivers. You know that. If there’s one I would draft it would be Brandin Cooks and it wouldn’t be as more than my fourth wide receiver.”
