Crimson Cade: Brophy QB Headed to Ivy League

The suspense is over but the fun is just beginning for Cade Knox.

The Brophy senior quarterback announced his college destination when he took to social media late Wednesday morning.

“Obviously, the Harvard education is so prominent and unbeatable in our country and the world.  Since the first day they recruited me, I felt like they really wanted me,” Knox said.  “This is definitely a place I want to be a part of.  It’s definitely a place that in 20 years, I can look back and see that was a great decision.”

The 6’4, 200-pounder had Division I offers from Bowling Green, Fresno State, Tulane and UNLV who recently landed a verbal commitment from another skilled Valley quarterback. The red-head helped jump-start the Broncos stagnant offense midway through last season, leading BCP to eight-straight wins to close out the regular season before falling to Hamilton in the Division I semifinals.

“Knox is a traditional pocket quarterback,” Scout.com Southwest Recruiting Analyst Jason Jewel told Sports360AZ.com. “He’s big, strong-armed and well-coached. Harvard is getting a steal.”

Knox said there are parallels to Harvard and Brophy’s offenses that will help him thrive at the next level.

“(Harvard) has taken me through some of their offense,” Knox said.  “They told me how they use the quarterback and it’s definitely a lot of how (Brophy) uses our quarterback in our system.  You’re expected to be a smart player, know your checks and protections, (be able to) switch to a different a play and get the ball out.”

The heady Knox, who also starred on the Brophy baseball team, burst onto college radars after finishing 2014 with over 2,300 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. He also added 430 rushing yards and three scores. He spent part of his summer sharpening his skill set with former ASU and NFL quarterback Rudy Carpenter and veteran coach Rod Dowhower.

I wouldn’t say it was a priority, but it was something I thought about and wanted it so going into the season, I was focused on the season I was on right now.
