Copa America On Full Display in Valley

The Bird’s Nest inside University of Phoenix Stadium will have some new visitors this summer.

Copa America, the oldest international soccer competition, is coming to Phoenix this summer and for the next couple days fans from around the Valley have the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with a piece of iconic sports history.

Through Thursday you can view the 100 year-old Copa America trophy at select locations. Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00 it will be at Deportes America Soccer Shop (2822 North 16th Street in Phoenix). Thursday you can see it at two locations: 12:00-2:00 at Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale and at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix from 4:00-9:00 before and during the Cubs-Diamondbacks game.

The trio of games include Mexico vs Uruguay June 5th, Ecuador against Peru on June 8th and a third place match (teams TBD) to be played on June 25th.

The historic event this summer marks the largest soccer tournament the United States has hosted since the 1994 World Cup.
