Arizona Sports News online

Brad KellerPOSITION:

RHP

TEAM:

Visalia Rawhide (A+)

ETA:

2018

AGE:

20

Mike Bell, D-Backs Director of Player Development:

“Only going to be 20 or 21 this year. He’s 6’5” and 230. He’s solid. For that age to command his fastball like he has and he pitches off his fastball too. He cuts it, sinks it, pretty good change-up, his breaking ball is developing for his age and he is just a big strong, durable right-handed starter.”

2016 STATS:

June: 4 starts, 3-0, 24.2 IP, 3.28 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 20 Ks, 3 BB

Season: 15 starts, 91.2 IP, 6-5, 4.42 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 62 Ks, 15 BB

2015 STATS:

26 games with Kane County (A), 25 starts, 8-9, 2.60 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 109 Ks, 37 BB

Notes:

(Updated 7/5) Normally when you think of a big 6’5″ pitcher, you think strikeouts and power. That’s not to say that it isn’t the case for Keller but from what we have seen from him, he uses his size to his advantage in a different way. His length helps create a very tough downhill plane which makes his 90+ MPH sinker ball that Mike Bell mentions a hitters nightmare. And that fastball command that Mike Bell speaks of is on display as he is getting ahead of hitters and has only walked 15 batters in 91.2 innings pitched.
