D-Backs on Deck – Brandon Drury

Arizona Sports News online

Brandon Drury

POSITION:

3B/2B

TEAM:

Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB)

MLB DEBUT:

9/1/15

AGE:

23

Mike Bell, D-Backs Director of Player Development:

“He’s got the talent, he’s just got to trust himself. I think in Mobile last year he concerned himself a little too much with the power. The power is going to come from him, he hits the ball plenty hard. At some point in his career he might start elevating the ball a little more but I hope he doesn’t concern himself with it too much and I don’t think he will.”

2016 STATS:

18 games through 4/29, 19 H, 7 R, 6 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, .311 AVG, .918 OPS

2015 STATS:

130 games with Reno & Mobile, 159 H, 65 R, 5 HR, 61 RBI, 4 SB, .303 AVG, .756 OPS

20 games with Diamondbacks, 12 H, 3 R, 2 HR, 8 RBI, .214 AVG, .629 OPS

Notes:

(Updated 4/29) Drury had not had consistent at-bats thus far this season at the big league level until about a week ago where he has raised his batting average over 50 points and has also showed versatility in the field now having played left field, right field and third base this season. Drury has a lot of pop in his bat and could be an immediate impact player for the D-Backs if he is in the lineup. The only problem is Jake Lamb has been one of the team’s top hitters in April meaning the playing time will need to come in the outfield which isn’t his true position.
