Mike Bell, D-Backs Director of Player Development:

“I saw him in a playoff-type atmosphere last year in Mobile and he was outstanding. He was firm with his fastball. He could cut it, sink it and had a good slider. He mowed through a pretty good lineup in Pensacola to get through the eighth inning. Everyone is impressed with his fastball command.”

Season: 9 starts 0-2, 43.1 IP, 3.74 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 29 Ks, 8 BB

2015 STATS:

Joined AZ after Addison Reed trade, 36 games in AA, 9 starts, 95.2 IP, 3.20 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 61 Ks, 19 BB

Notes:

(Updated 7/5) Koch was looking incredible for Mobile to start 2016 as he gave up just one earned run through his first 13 innings pitched. He had a remarkable 0.61 ERA before he was placed on the 7-day disabled list on April 22. He was then activated on May 21st and had two solid starts for the BayBears before being sent right back to the DL retroactive on May 28th. That was been his last DL stint to this point and has made four starts since. You get the since the the health problems have led to inconsistency on the field. In his last four at times he has been dominant while others he has been knocked around pretty hard. The 25 year old expects to be about a year away from a possible Big League appearance and nailing down consistant health and play will be crucial to that becoming a reality.
