THREE DOTS…Billy Joel Is Randy Johnson’s next project

Singer Billy Joel is the next job for photographer Randy Johnson. This Friday, May 20th, the Diamondbacks’ Hall of Fame pitcher will be working at Safeco Field in Seattle. He won’t be on the mound, he’ll be behind the lens trying to snap that perfect photo of the superstar singer in concert. “It’s as exciting for me, capturing a moment like that, as any baseball game that I ever pitched in because I can share it with people, I’m looking forward to seeing the Piano Man.”  He snapped the photo that is on the cover of the latest and perhaps last CD by the band Rush. R40.Tour_.Digital.Cover_1-820x502“I got approval from all three band members that they liked the photo and now it graces the cover of what could be the last major project that they do.”

The Big Unit has a trip coming up in August to Ethiopia and Kenya where he will shoot the migration and the Omo Valley. I spent a good portion of last Wednesdays show talking with Johnson about the 2015 Diamondbacks rotation “from top to bottom this could be the best rotation in the history of the Diamondbacks.”

QUICK HITS…

Jake Plummer sat down for an extended interview with NFL Films this past week.  The project that ‘The Snake’ will be featured in,  “A Football Life” on Pat Tillman, comes out this fall…

The Arizona Republic has asked me to emcee their 2016 Arizona Sports Awards on  Sunday, June 5th. Carson Palmer will be the headliner. Here’s the information http://www.azcentral.com/picture-gallery/sports/high-school/awards-athletes/2016/04/08/2016-arizona-sports-awards-celebration-honorees/82802872/...

Kevin Durant has to stay in Oklahoma City, right? Since they are in the Western Conference Finals, I think he has to give his pairing with Russell Westbrook another season…

Which tandem do you take? Westbrook and Durant or Curry and Thompson for the Warriors? It’s close, but I take the big and the small with the Thunder…

Jeff Hornacek would be the perfect fit in Orlando as the next Magic head coach. He did a good job in an impossible situation with the Suns. If the Magic don’t hire him I’d be shocked. Orlando has a great young roster and a bright future in front of them…
