Trier’s Offseason Work Ethic Infectious to Teammates

The 2015-16 Arizona Wildcats saw their season come to a bitter close in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. After traveling all the way to Providence, RI just to fall in the first game to Wichita State, the team flew back with a horrible taste in their mouths.

Then freshman guard Allonzo Trier returned home after that game and did not want to waste any time in his preparations for his sophomore campaign. He was in the gym the very next day putting up shots and continued to do so every day this offseason.

“I was just ready to take on the challenge of returning back to school,” Trier told Sports360AZ. “I didn’t want to wait, I wanted to start right then in preparation to get ready to attack this upcoming season.”

“Allonzo has had a tremendous offseason,” mentioned Arizona head coach Sean Miller. “He came back for all the right reasons. Just watching him in the gym, I’ve never been around a player that I’ve seen in the gym more than him. He’s been there in the evening, the morning, we will practice and he will come back at night, on the weekends. He wares our G.A.’s and managers out…He looks different, his body has changed.”

“I think he will be one of the best guards in the country,” Miller added.

The work ethic Trier has put forth has been infectious to the rest of his teammates. He is constantly being called or texted by them asking him when he is going to get shots up or going to lift.

“That kind of thing is contagious,” explained Trier. “I am always trying to get more guys to come to the gym with me and try to put in extra work so, we’ve had a great group of guys. Guys like Kadeem (Allen), Parker (Jackson-Cartwright), Dusan (Ristic) who’ve really taken it to the next level.”
