Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (October 17th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Small sample size, but what do you make of the “reborn” Adrian Peterson here in Arizona? “I didn’t like last week’s matchup because Peterson, since 2016, has only averaged about 2.4 yards per carry. If you follow the Cards you know that was one of the worst rushing offenses in the league. The offensive line struggled to run block but boy, it all came together for them. It really did.”
Is Brett Hundley worth a start this week and moving forward? “He is certainly rosterable, without question. You would look at the matchup and say, ‘wait a minute, this is the New Orleans’ defense. That’s a good matchup.’ It actually hasn’t been the last few weeks. Crazy stat: the Saints defense in their last three games, has scored 62 fantasy points. That’s more points than all but four teams have had all season long. The defense is starting to make plays.”
How about Trevor Siemian this week? “Don’t love the matchup this week against the Chargers who can’t stop the run but are tough against the pass. No Emmanuel Sanders and Siemian has been better at home and this past week he wasn’t even good there. Hard to trust him,”
What about his counterpart this week, Philip Rivers? “Honestly, it’s hard to trust Rivers, too. Philip Rivers is up and down all the time. It’s kind of what we see from Rivers and now he’s got Denver. If you look at him career-wise, at home against the Broncos, he hasn’t done well at all.”
Pick two for this weekend: LeSean McCoy, Alfred Morris, Ty Montgomery and Leonard Fournette. “I Fournette is active, he’s got to be in your lineup and McCoy would be the second player if you need to start two of those. I wish I could have that type of roster at the running back position because a lot of people are hurting right now.”
