Jake Lamb to Undergo Surgery, Out for Season

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Thursday Jake Lamb will undergo surgery on his injured rotator cuff and be out for the remainder of the season.

Torey Lovullo said on Tuesday Lamb had fraying in his left rotator cuff. He decided to opt for surgery, and Lovullo said he is confident the Diamondbacks third baseman will be ready for spring training.

Lamb had seen himself on the disabled list multiple times this year. He was hitting .222 with 6 home runs and 31 RBI in 56 games this year.

It’s safe to assume newly-acquired Eduardo Escobar’s role will expand even more now that Lamb will be out for the remainder of the season. The Diamondbacks made the move for the Twins infielder on July 27th. With the Diamondbacks, he is hitting 4/12 with the Diamondbacks and .276 on the year.
