Notebook – Rooting for Mtn. Pointe, Chandler Lands Marquee 2020 Game

A few quick hits from Friday night.

I was going to lay low and watch USC v Utah, but kept having the itch to head out to a game. I went to Hamilton v Mountain Pointe. Got there an hour before kickoff and stayed through the middle of the second quarter. I went up into the Mountain Pointe bleachers to talk with a few parents about what the week had been like. Visited with school administrators on the sidelines and hoped that the Pride would be able to focus on a game. No one should be rooting against that the program right now. The players and coaches were let down by an adult, in a way that still boggles my mind when it comes to giving away the playbook to the opposition. I haven’t done much on this story this week because it’s still fluid. There ARE going to be other shoes that drop in this before it’s all said and done in my opinion. Hamilton won the game with ease 42-13. More on the night coming up next week on the show…

Perry suspended dozens of players from their game against Chavez for breaking a code of conduct policy put in place by head coach Preston Jones at the start of the season. The Pumas lost at Chavez. The most surprising result of the night, on and off the field…

Jason Jewell doesn’t know how to handle losing! Brophy is 5-0 under their first year coach…

Notre Dame Prep has quietly gone about their business here in 2019. Can’t help but to look ahead to their game next month(Oct. 11th) at home against Horizon as a must see Friday night event. Saw some tape recently of Oklahoma State commit, o-lineman Cade Bennett,  mauling some poor souls across from him. My understanding is Michigan hasn’t  let the Ok. State verbal stop them from pursuing the big-time talent of the Saints. Ah the world of recruiting…

Yes, Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin took a helicopter around the Valley to games on Friday night. Arizona State fans felt that it was necessary to remind me that Todd Graham did it before the UofA did…who cares…The ‘boomcopter” didn’t produce much in the way of in-state talent. Smart way to get around, but it didn’t convince players to head to Tempe. Sumlin is having a good 2020 in-state recruiting class…

Arizona State is having an outstanding group of out-of-state players coming in for 2020. A national brand under Herm…

A big time national matchup is coming to Chandler high school in 2020

J Serra isn’t  going to be the only national powerhouse program playing a team in the SE Valley. Two other well-recognized programs are close to getting  2020 football game agreements done against a school in the Southern part of the Valley. Stay tuned…
