Higley’s Kai Millner Goes In-Depth On Cal Commitment

Higley 2021 quarterback Kai Millner saw big time Power 5 offers come his way before even starting a varsity game. He backed up those expectations as a junior, throwing for 2,387 yards and 31 touchdowns while also finding the end zone seven more times on the ground.

On Thursday, he took the next step towards his goals by committing to Cal.

“Going through (my recruitment) and looking at all the things that I have looked for in a place and a college and a program, it really fit everything,” Millner said. “From the coaches to the players, the academics were a big thing as well. I just felt like it fit. It’s a great place and I’m excited to take (the next step) on my journey.”

The 6-foot-2, 180 pound quarterback is the ninth Golden Bear commit from Arizona since the class of 2019 cycle. He will share a quarterback room yet again with former Higley signal-caller Spencer Brasch.

Millner holds offers from NAU, Michigan State, Arizona, ASU, Iowa State, UNLV, Boise State, Colorado, Syracuse, Washington State, Indiana, North Carolina State, Hawaii, Miami and UCF.

“Kai is a COMPETITOR,” Higley football coach Eddy Zubey said in a message. “He is very smart and takes care of the football. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his athleticism. He is fast enough to keep plays alive with his feet. He is a great leader. He is a top-notch arm talent from his arm strength, quickness of his release and accuracy. It will be hard to find another high school quarterback with his skill set.”

Millner sat down with the Venezia’s Pizzeria Recruiting Roundup to discuss his commitment, how he sees himself fitting in the Cal offense and adjusting his recruitment due to the coronavirus and more in the video above.
