Humble, Hard-Working Carson Tucker Eyes MLB Draft

Carson Tucker recently graduated from Mountain Pointe High School and could possibly hear his name called this week during the 2020 MLB Draft.

Carson isn’t the only Tucker that played baseball for MPHS, his older brother Cole also played for the Pride and had his dreams come true when he heard his name called during the 2014 MLB Draft where he was selected in the first round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Carson hopes to follow in his older brother’s footsteps this week.

Due to the pandemic, Cole has been home since there isn’t a 2020 Major League Baseball season yet. During his time in the Valley he has been able to help guide Carson not only in workouts, but on what to mentally expect during the draft process.

“With the draft and stuff he’s been a really big help,” Carson said. “I don’t take it for granted..I use it for my advantage. It’s definitely something I’m thankful for.”

The younger Tucker is also committed to play baseball at the University of Texas. He could potentially go pro this week or he could further his education and collegiate career and continue to play in Austin.

Many scouts think Carson will be selected in the draft. That’s a big decision for a teenager, but he’s got great company around him to help him make it.

Not only is his older brother in the big leagues, but he also is close to Arizona natives and other big leaguers like the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger and Philadelphia Phillie Scott Kingery. That is some great talent to be surrounded by during this time.
