The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick to a one-year contract.

The team needed to address their defensive secondary after cornerback Robert Alford suffered a pectoral injury and was placed on the injured reserve.

Kirkpatrick was a 2012 first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, where he started 67 games over eight seasons. He started all six games he played in last year before being placed on the injured reserve due to a knee injury.

Current Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph coached Kirkpatrick in Cincinnati in 2014 & 2015.

In Kirkpatrick’s career, the Alabama alum has tallied 302 total tackles, 10 interceptions, 65 passes defended and a forced fumble.

In addition to Kirkpatrick, the Cardinals have also signed cornerbacks Ken Crowley and B.W. Webb to help bolster the secondary.
