Thatcher and Round Valley will provide plenty of balance in the 2A state title game on Saturday.
Both teams have plenty of options for playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Key Matchup: Corbin Brown vs the Round Valley run game.
Brown is Thatcher’s best option to disrupt things in the backfield, and he will be terribly needed against a Round Valley run game that features four players who have rushed for at least 700 yards and have combined for 4,300 yards and 40 touchdowns.
If Thatcher wins, it will be because…Jake Dunlap gets going early and the defense shuts the door. The running back sets the tone for this Eagle offense and fellow running back Nate Lee can mix it up as well.
If Round Valley wins, it will be because…Kyron Woolf leads the way. He has 26 passing touchdowns on the year and is the team’s leading rusher. If he can make plays in both facets, it will be tough to stop the Elks.
The 2A state championship kicks off at 2:30 on Saturday at Chaparral.
