There is no substitute for hard work.
It’s become a way of life for Philip “Scooby” Wright who arrived at the University of Arizona as a relative unknown and left as one of the most decorated defensive players in program history.
Now “Two-Star Scoob,” as his twitter handle reads, is in the final stages of preparing for the NFL Combine after turning pro moments after his 15-tackle, two-sack performance in the Wildcats’ bowl win over New Mexico back in December.
Despite his dominating Gildan New Mexico Bowl showcase some still have questions whether Wright can bounce back from an injury-filled 2015 junior season which saw him miss most of the season with a handful of injuries.
One NFL draft analyst believes Wright is the record-breaking, national award-winning player we saw as a sophomore where the six-foot, 246-pounder accumulated 163 tackles (29 for loss), 14 sacks and six forced fumbles garnering the “triple crown” of accolades winning the Bronco Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award and Chuck Bednarik Award.
“Scooby’s not going to wow you in so many ways unless you just keep watching the tape,” NFL Network draft analyst Charles Davis told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a recent phone interview. “The tape tells me Scooby Wright’s a player.”
Watch this young man’s tape. Intelligent, instincts, effort…and ticked off. I like ticked off playmakers https://t.co/jLObHEjW8L

Wright is projected to go anywhere from the second to fourth round but could climb draft boards proving he’s completely healthy going through workouts in Indianapolis.
