Trier Announces Return to UofA For Sophomore Year

Arizona Sports News online

Although the Arizona Wildcats run through March Madness ended prematurely Sean Miller received some good news in early April when it was announced talented guard Allonzo Trier would be returning to the UofA for his sophomore season.

“After talking to Coach Miller and my family, I have decided to return to school for my sophomore season,” Trier said. “I am really excited about the quest to become a more complete player. I am also excited to develop as a leader and to lock arms with my teammates while competing for championships.  I love being at the University of Arizona and can’t wait for next season to begin.”

The feeling is certainly mutual as the ‘Cats welcome back the 2016 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team member who averaged just under 15 points a game last season.

“I am ecstatic about Allonzo’s decision to return to school for his sophomore year,” said head coach Sean Miller. “I believe he will become one of college basketball’s elite players next season. During our conversations, Allonzo shared his desire to be a leader on a championship team and to improve his overall game. By doing so, he puts himself in the best position possible for a very successful NBA future.”

Miller raved of Trier’s work ethic and passion for the game. The six-foot-five, 210-pounder from Seattle who went on to become a McDonald’s All-American at Findlay prep in Las Vegas tallied eight 20+ point games last season and also won the Pac-12 Player of the Week award back in early December following his career-high 27-point performance against Fresno State.
