Under the Friday night lights and between the white lines in the fall, Notre Dame Prep’s Cole Fisher takes on an animal mentality as one of the veteran leaders for the Saints, who improved to 6-0 following their impressive win over Chaparral.
One day the senior is hoping to use a different animal mentality off the field as an aspiring veterinarian.
Since his early youth, he’s had a passion for dogs and caring for animals in need.
“[Dogs] are the best animals by far,” Fisher said to Sports360AZ.com. “It’s something I’d definitely like to do.”
Fisher, who has played on varsity since his freshman year, has produced big numbers from his running back position (37 career touchdowns), as well as provided valuable leadership on a veteran team with something to prove after a controversial-filled 2016 season which saw the 8-2 Saints miss the playoffs.
“There’s no point to bring up the past,” Fisher explained. “It’s over and done with. All we can do is work even harder.”
His drive for success was seen up close by his first-year head coach last summer.
“One thing that really stuck out was his work ethic,” George Prelock said to Sports360AZ.com. “He was always around, always trying to ask questions about learning the new offense. He really cares. He went out there and worked.”

Fisher also plays basketball and participates in track at NDP but football has always been in his blood dating back to his early youth. His uncle is a football coach and his love for the sport was almost immediate.
“I probably started playing when I was four or five,” Fisher explained. “It’s everything to me. It’s all I know.”
While he spends most of his time on offense Fisher can also slide in at safety, adding more depth to a team littered with talent across the board.

“He’s had so many reps playing both sides of the ball for so many years has paid dividends for him,” Prelock said. “As a running back, he knows what the linebackers are thinking and as a defensive guy he knows what the offense is thinking.”
Pretty doggone good if you ask me.
