The NFL preseason came and went, and while there were four games that didn’t count, and everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt, here are a few things that jumped out as the Cardinals gear up for the 2018 regular season
17 Takeaways
Steve Wilks is a defensive coach. The Cardinals’ strength last year was defense. It seems like this could be a perfect pair for years to come as the Cardinals had 17 takeaways in the preseason. Taking away eight possessions from the Cowboys certainly helps, who apparently replaced their stick ’em with crisco. (Grain of salt: none of these turnovers came from Cowboy starters.)
Quarterbacks
Sam Bradford was very accurate.
Josh Rosen looked good in his one game where he logged “significant” time.
Mike Glennon went 16/20 in the final two games of the preseason.
It seems like Cardinal fans got what they expected in these three quarterbacks. Rosen was especially cautious due to a right thumb injury he suffered in the Cardinals’ win over the Cowboys. There’s no question Sam Bradford is the starter, Rosen will serve as his backup, and Glennon would be a solid third option, especially with a favorable contract.
Final Wide Receiver Spot?
The Cardinals were probably most active in the wide receiver position, adding the likes of Christian Kirk, Brice Butler and Greg Little. Butler and Kirk look to be regularly on the field this year, and it seems as though Little is on the bubble to make the team. A one-time second round pick has made his way back to an NFL team and hopes to be a part of the Cardinals receiving corps.
Only time will tell till the games actually count.
