You’re never too old to come home.
That’s certainly the case for Suns point guard Goran Dragic who was introduced Thursday after agreeing to terms with the unrestricted free-agent.
Dragic returns to Phoenix after spending the previous year-and-a-half with the Houston Rockets following a trade from the Suns on February 24, 2011.
“He’s a lot more confident as a player,” Suns head coach Alvin Gentry told Brad Cesmat Thursday on ‘Big Guy on Sports.’ “He’s a lot more confident as a leader on the floor. I can see the maturation that has happened there. He’s really worked on certain parts of his game.”
Dragic credits playing under Rockets head coach Kevin McHale for much of his growth on the court. He was given not only more minutes, but more freedom to grow into his game both physically and mentally.
“He’s gotten stronger,” Gentry explained to Cesmat. “Sometimes it just takes a little time. I do think the consistency will be there. I do think just the fact that he’s a competitor that guys are not going to push him around.”
The 26-year-old averaged a career high 11.7 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds last season.
