And you thought recruiting slowed after signing day

Arizona Sports News online

At the beginning of the month, National Letter of Intent day came and passed. But that does not mean the recruiting world has slowed down at all. A lot of Arizona’s best in the great 2014 class and also in 2015 have reeled in some very substantial offers over the past month.

One player that seems as if his phone is flying off the hook is 2014 OL/DL Natrell Curtis out of Mountain Pointe. In the last month he has reported offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Cal and Iowa State. He holds 17 total offers according to our recruiting insider Jason Jewell.

Desert Mountain’s dynamic duo of quarterback Kyle Allen and wide receiver Mark Andrews’s recruitment continues to blow up. This month Allen has added offers from West Virginia, Ole Miss and Texas A&M while Mark Andrews, while helping lead the charge for the Wolves’ basketball team to reach the final four, added USC, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. For Allen, who currently holds 13 offers, spring and summer will continue to draw attention as he will be part of the Elite 11 quarterbacks camp. Andrews, who has 19 offers, on Twitter also mentioned a great meeting he had this month with Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame staff.

Mountain Pointe’s WR/DB Jalen Brown is a hot commodity. That’s not breaking news. It was reported this week that he has been extended an invite for the U.S. Army All-American game. The first player from out west to get one. He in the last month has gained offers from Wisconsin, West Virginia, USC and Stanford. He currently holds 24 offers.

Best friends over at Chaparral, WR/DB Tyler Whiley and TE/DE Trevor Wood, are getting huge attention from some of the best the FBS has to offer. Whiley this month added an offer from Oklahoma to offers from Arizona, ASU and Washington. Trevor Wood, who is coming back from an injury that sidelined him for most of the 2012 season, picked up his fifth offer from Boise State.

Arguably the top player in the 2015 class, Saguaro WR/DB Christian Kirk, added an offer from Oregon State to a list that already includes Arizona, ASU and UCLA. Kirk has been absolutely dynamic as a freshman and sophomore for the Sabercats. While he is being recruited as a WR and DB, Jason Mohns informed me during last season to keep an eye out from him once he is a senior at the quarterback position. Luke Rubenzer currently is the signal caller for them and will be a senior next year. Kirk could turn some heads by the time he is a senior as a duel-threat quarterback.

All of this happening in just the past month. Just goes to show you that recruiting is a job 365 days a year.

Some side notes around the Arizona high school football scene. A lot of players are continuing to work out presently and competing in combines around the valley and around the nation. Liberty has a star in the making by the name of Alex Hunter. Started at WR/DB for the Lions as a freshman last season and he is continuing to get bigger and improve. I was told he also has a rocket for an arm as well and could compete for the starting quarterback job to replace Tyler Rogers next season.

Another player is North Canyon’s Mr. Do it all, Bryant O’Georgia who plays WR/DB and is the teams punter, was clocked at running a 4.41 40 yard dash time a couple weeks back. He is a great talent who hasn’t received any division I offers yet but is getting some attention. I think his recruitment is going to explode during his senior season if not earlier.
