Another Twist in the Marvin Bagley Story

Arizona Sports News online

Another chapter in the saga of former Arizona high school prep basketball player Marvin Bagley. His search for eligibility to play this season took him to Chatsworth Sierra Canyon high school in California. It didn’t work out. The Southern Section office has declared the 6″10 sophomore ineligible to play this season because the transfer was “athletically motivated” according to the Southern Section . Bagley won a Arizona state title at Corona Del Sol high school in his freshman season last spring, but left the Aztecs program in August for Hillcrest Prep Academy. That move didn’t work out and Bagley was pulled out of the program in November. Bagley is rated as one of the top prospects in the 2018 class and was already receiving heavy recruiting attention while at Corona Del Sol. It’s unclear why Bagley left the Aztecs, though there are several theories in the club basketball circuit around Arizona. From my point of view, this is one of the saddest stories I’ve seen in twenty-plus years covering the Arizona sports scene…
