The Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League held it’s fourth-of-five race series in Fountain Hills. McDowell Regional Park saw great attendance from racers on October 19th and 20th.

Those who participated ranged from 7th to 12th grade. There was a total of 75 teams with over 800 racers from Arizona, Mexico, and New Mexico school programs. In addition, members from the Navajo and Hopi reservations were also in attendance with bikes and helmets ready to go.

Co-Founder of the AICL Mike Perry said that “a lot of the kids really come to camp and have fun with the other racers” even if it is seen as a competitive event. Perry also added that he enjoys seeing the amount of involvement from everyone who came out last weekend.

Dave DiMattio who works with the league founded his own team at Sierra Vista high school, that still participates in the AICL race series.

The AICL will be holding it’s final race series at the start of November.
