For years, one of the criticisms of the Bobby Hurley era in Tempe has been the program’s lack of an interior presence and a big man to dominate the post.
Romello White found success in Tempe, but it was short-lived after he transferred last offseason. Labeled as “Guard U” at Arizona State, the program took a step on Thursday to change that narrative. Highly-touted center Enoch Boakye out of Mississauga, Ontario in Canada committed to ASU.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound big man also held offers from Michigan State, Arizona, UCLA, BYU, Houston, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Denver and Western Kentucky.
Originally part of the 2022 class, Boakye will be reclassified to 2021 to suit up sooner for the maroon and gold. He will look to fill a missing piece in the ASU frontcourt after the Sun Devils were mightily outsized and outrebounded in most games this past season.
Hailing from north of the border, Boakye is the second Canadian product to come to Tempe in the last few seasons, joining fellow countrymen and current Oklahoma City Thunder guard Luguentz Dort.
Boakye joins Demari Williams, William Felton, Justin Rochelin and Jamiya Neal in the 2021 class under Hurley.
