Arizona State football steamrolled Colorado Saturday night at Sun Devil Stadium. Here are five observations from the game:
1)Back in Black
-The black jersey combination by the Sun Devils was a nice look. The Sun Devils were able to lay some wood on Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau, sacking him six times. There were several other times in the game when Arizona State was making Liufau very uncomfortable. The pass rush for the Sun Devils played a big part on taking over the game…
2)Smoothing things out
-Arizona State had a rash of injuries and inconsistent play early in the season, but Saturday the Sun Devils looked crisp for most of the night. Arizona State jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead and led 17-7 after the first quarter. Starting fast has been a staple during the Todd Graham era. Saturday night ASU put their foot down on the Buffaloes throat early…
3)Putting the “special” back in teams.
-A blocked punt by Desmond Tautalastasi and Tim White becoming a threat on kickoff returns suddenly has Arizona States special teams looking much better than even a few weeks ago. Zane Gonzalez hit a couple of field goals too…
4)White-Out
-Tim White had a 38 yard touchdown catch from QB Mike Bercovici in the second quarter and a 45 yard score off a tipped pass. White has gotten better and better as the season has progressed (just like the entire ASU team). He finished with 7 catches for 144 yards and 2 TDs.
5)Next up, at Utah
The Utes received 7 first place votes coming into their matchup with Cal. The Utah pass rush will be on the same par as what the Sun Devils faced when they took on Texas A&M earlier this season. Utah will try to slow the tempo of the high-powered Sun Devil offense…
