The Fiesta Bowl is pairing the Arizona Wildcats and Boise State in this years New Years Eve game. It’s a major step forward for head coach Rich Rodriguezs program, which finished 10-3 in the regular season. Arizona last played in the Fiesta Bowl in 1993.
The game will kickoff at 2pm on December 31st and be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
Boise State was the winner of the Mountain West Conference, while the Wildcats took the Pac-12 South title before getting blown out in the Conference title game by the Oregon Ducks.
The two schools have never played before. The Broncos went 11-2 this past season and were the highest ranked Group of 5 conference champion. They have knocked off San Diego State, Wyoming, Utah State, and Fresno State over the last month.
On the field Arizona will have to deal with the Broncos leading rusher, Jay Ajayi, “J-Train” has put up 2,225 all-purpose yards, ranking third in the nation. He has scored 20 touchdowns on the season.
The oddsmakers in Las Vegas established Arizona as a 4-and-a-half point favorite.
