While many colleges have yet to start their spring sessions, ASU will be wrapping up theirs on Thursday with the Maroon and Gold practice at Sun Devil Stadium.
On Wednesday, coordinators Rob Likens and Danny Gonzales sat down with the media to recap the spring session.
Most of Likens’ session focused around (you guessed it) the quarterback battle between Dillon Sterling-Cole, Jayden Daniels, Joey Yellen and Ethan Long. Likens said it’s still a wide open competition but could see the list narrowing when they got to fall camp.
Defensively, the Sun Devils were riddled with injuries and players being unavailable. Due to those thin numbers, Gonzales had to get creative with how the system adapted to the roster and who played where during this session. It’s completely different from last year, though, where many thought the offense would hit the ground running and the defense would take time to the develop. Turns out the opposite happened, and the defense returns plenty of key players. Now, it’s about creating depth, according to Gonzales.
