A giant cloud over the entire 2011 season for Arizona State football was the injury bug. And one of the biggest blows to the Sun Devil defense was the loss of Brandon Magee, who ruptured his Achilles tendon on the eighth play of the season.
Magee, who used his redshirt last season after lettering for the Sun Devils his first two seasons, was one of the most productive linebackers on the ASU defense back in 2010, finishing second on the team in tackles behind Vontaze Burfict.
Magee is a two-sport athlete in Sun Devils athletics as he is also an outfielder for the ASU baseball team. Despite already having been drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays, it looks as if baseball is not the priority for him. Magee mentioned that he is not planning to return to the baseball field this season and is spending his time rehabbing his Achilles on the football field with Coach Graham.
Magee looks to be in good spirits out at Sun Devil spring practice as he talked about he rehab process, how he has been able to remain positive and a new nickname for himself as one the older guys on the team.
